One of my least favorite things to hear from people in a network marketing business is, “I’d be more successful if only…”
The reasons (excuses!) change from person to person. Sometimes it’s a result of your own self-limiting beliefs. You may not recognize it immediately (if it was obvious, you’d likely change it, right?) But sometimes you get stuck in thinking that success is for other people. You see people marketing your product or opportunity successfully, and you assume that they came into the business with a ton of contacts, or that they had a bunch of cash to start their business or whatever.
How Not To Sabotage your Network Marketing Business
But I’m here to tell you that no matter your situation when you start your It Works body wrap business or other network marketing business, whether you experience success or not is largely due to two things: persistence and generosity. Here’s what I mean.
What is Persistence?
What is persistence? It’s the character trait of not giving up. It’s closely related to endurance – they ability to go the distance. Either way, they both speak to the reality that success isn’t overnight. And if you see someone who is an overnight success, it’s quite likely that you missed all of the prep work that allowed for that success to happen.
This is why persistence is so vital if you want to experience success in your network marketing business. If you expect success quickly and don’t experience it – and then you give up, well, that’s it. If you’re not willing to go the distance, you won’t experience the kind of success that your company advertises at the top levels. It’s just that simple. Being impatient is one of the main killers of success in any business, but especially in network marketing.
Generosity Is Key
It’s probably surprising to hear me say that generosity is key to your network marketing business. But not only do I believe it, I’ve seen it to be true in my 3 years spent building my It Works body wrap business.
Zig Ziglar, a famous motivational speaker in network marketing circles, said it well – you can have anything you want in life – if you help enough other people get what they want.
How does this work in a network marketing business? Well – when you introduce people to your product, can they practically see the dollar signs in your eyes? Can they tell that you see them as just another sales on your way to meeting your own goals? Or do you take the time to build relationships with your customers? Do you learn about what their challenges and concerns are before you recommend products that might help them? Or do you just push a product or a package because it’s what you have on your shelf or what you want them to buy?
This also is reflected in how you build your team? Do you work with your team members to help them experience success in their businesses? Or are you just concerned with numbers, recruiting as fast as you can, and hoping some of them are motivated enough to figure it out on their own?
If you have a team member who mentions that she’s not feeling as comfortable as she could talking about the opportunity, what’s the next thing that you do? Have you offered to help role play some opportunity calls? Have you called your diamond level upline to see what some of the tools available are for building confidence in this area? By helping your team member succeed, your own success will dramatically increase. But if you don’t have a generous, servant-leader heart. you’ll sabotage your own success. It’s just that simple.
What about you? Are you sabotaging your own network marketing success? Make the choice to persist and be generous in your business today!
